WC Winter IFAA Indoor Championships

Western Cape Winter IFAA Indoor Championships 2015
9th August, Protea Sports Club

The first IFAA Indoor qualifier for the Western Cape in the 2015/16 cycle was held at Protea indoor range on the 9th August. Nineteen archers keen to try shooting the required scores were welcomed on a chilly winters morning. Normally the Bowhunter class (5 Pin Sights and short stabilisers) are the dominant group, but this time, the Freestyle archers were a significant majority.

WC Winter IFAA Indoor Champs

The male group of eight freestyle compound archers had lots of promise for high scores and good competition. However, no matter how determined they were, none of these  Freestyle Unlimited men managed their usual full score of 300. The best they could do was for three of them to score 299. This left us with a shoot-out to determine the final podium finishers for silver and bronze.

The only Bowhunter (BU) archer, Phillip de Lange did manage to shoot a full score of 300 with a 48 x-count; and joining him on a full score was the fantastic performance of one of the lady FU Compound shooters. Estelle Jacobs shot her best score yet, by also posting a full 300 score.
Estelle has quietly improved by leaps and bounds when nobody was watching. She use to come as support for her husband and son, but then started participating herself. She is now a regular (without husband and son) at the Indoor events, and wow, what a great score from her! It was lovely to see a new junior lady recurve archer in Inge Smit at an IFAA event. She had good company with Mieke and Nadine, our more regular stars in the ladies recurve section. Another new face was Ismaeel Hansa in the recurve men style. We hope to see you again in future.

Great to see Jane, Mike, Graig and Jackie back again. A bit rusty, but looking very threatening and ready to shoot great scores. Thanks to all the archers who attended and hope to see you at our next IFAA event.
